A New Chapter for the Foundation

After more than five years of celebrating contemporary poets through our annual contest, the ruth weiss Foundation is entering a new chapter.

The Foundation is placing the poetry contest on an indefinite hiatus in order to dedicate its full focus toward preserving, publishing, and expanding access to ruth weiss’s body of work.

Over the next five years, the Foundation will focus on returning ruth’s books to publication, supporting productions of her plays, expanding exhibition opportunities for her artwork-poem collaborations, and continuing to preserve her cultural legacy through film and archival work.

We remain deeply grateful to every poet, judge, and supporter who helped make the contest a meaningful part of the Foundation’s history.
